Solar Foods Oyj is a Finland-based food technology company. Solar Food's product is the naturally occurring single-cell protein Solein, which can be used as a food raw material with high protein content. The bioprocess takes a single microbe, one of the billion different ones found in nature, and grows it by fermenting it using air and electricity. Solein is a new food that requires regulatory approval before it can be sold and used in foods. Solein got food regulatory approval in Singapore, European Union and in the United Kingdom.
